There are good reasons why Cameron Highlands remains a popular tourist destination in Malaysia for locals and internationals alike. Its cold weather, serenity and gorgeous countryside scenery makes it a great escape for anyone. With this Cameron Highlands Tour, its itinerary includes visits to:

North – South Highway (Drive Pass)
Located about 4 hours drive or 200 kilometres (120 miles) North from Kuala Lumpur, the journey takes you along the North – South highway; turning off at Tapah and upwards on the main highland road that hugs the hill slopes, the road curves in and out following the contours of the highlands.

Handmade Basket Factory
Before ascending to Cameron Highlands, you’ll make a visit to a cottage industry that specializes in basket weaving at Tapah. This is the place where the making of large bamboo baskets that are used to collect the tea grown in the Highlands as well as to transport vegetables from Cameron Highland.

Lata Iskandar Waterfall (Photo Stop)
Visible from the main road, the Lata Iskandar Waterfall rests within a well-known park on the way to Cameron Highlands from Tapah. Visitors drop by for a dip into the pool, next to a stream of refreshing water that cascades down several tiers. There are several food stalls and craft vendors close to the attraction.

Aborigines Village
On the way towards Cameron Highlands, there is an Orang Asli village from the Semai tribe. Known for their shifting cultivation and blowpipe hunting technique, they have chosen to stay in the jungle and continue practising their traditions. Venture into the village and learn about their cultures.

BOH Tea Plantation
Famous for its valleys carpeted in magnificent fields of bright green, Cameron Highlands is the largest tea growing region in Malaysia. Amidst the spectacular mountain scene, take the chance to sit at the hilltop tea houses and sip a cup of its renowned tea. Keep in mind that the tea plantation factory is closed on Monday so avoid going on that day if you wish to go inside and sip their delicious tea.

BOH Tea Factory
Witness how BOH Tea is processed in its tea factory. It all begins with a rolling process, where the tea leaves are broken down, to have its juices released for fermentation. This complex fermentation or oxidation process results in each tea having its own unique flavour and aroma. It is then dried in a dryer room before the sorting process. The dried tea leaves are then lastly sorted according to their grades, density and flavour. Please note the Tea Factory is closed every Monday.

Vegetable Farm
Cameron Highlands’ cool climate makes it perfect for vegetables to grow in its rich soils. Breathe in the fresh crisp highland air as you see how the farmers of Cameron Highlands produce their various crops, and also get the chance to buy and sample them. It’s hard to miss the lush plantations and verdant gardens perched on slopes along the hills.

Vegetable Market
Travelling around Cameron Highlands, you will see various vegetable farms located in various places. One of the popular vegetable markets is the Kea Farm Vegetables Market. You will find that the whole area is just one massive vegetable garden. Besides vegetables, locally grown flowers like roses and dried flowers, colorfully crafted cacti, and potted plants are some of the other things you can spot here.

Strawberry Farm
Cameron Highlands is one of the only places in Malaysia that grows strawberries all year round. When this dainty fruit is in season from May to August, you are allowed to enter the farm and pluck your own strawberries. You would want to try them fresh off the farm, with a dollop of cream on the side. Strawberry is also in everything here, from ice cream to jam, milk shake, juice, waffles and even strawberry with chocolate fondue – an absolutely delight if you are a fan of strawberries.

Butterfly Garden
The Butterfly Farm is one of the oldest and most popular attractions in Cameron Highlands. Its living collection of butterflies flutter around a landscaped garden filled with flowers and greenery, while beetles and other exotic insects are also exhibited in the enclosure.

Honey Bee Farms
Bee farms are a novelty in Cameron Highlands, producing a modest range of delicious honey and derivative products for sale and show to visitors. The bee farms are located in Ringlet (Highlands Apiary Farm), Brinchang (Ee Feng Gu Bee Farm) and Tringkap (Cameron Tringkap Bee Farm), with slight variances in size, facility and scale of honey production. As local bee populations are not enough to sustain local supply, honey sold here is also sourced from wild and domestic sources all over Malaysia.

Cactus Valley
Cactus Valley is a botanical show garden nestled on a hill slope overlooking Brinchang town center, featuring a large collection of cacti, flowers and ornamental plants of various shapes, colours and sizes.

Bharat Tea Plantation (Photo Stop)
Bharat is the second largest tea producer in Cameron Highlands, with plantations in Tanah Rata and Tringkap that grow their signature brand ‘Cameron Valley’. The plantation has two tea houses situated slightly apart from each other along the main road. The first tea house offers a walk down the valley to a small park and waterfall, while the second tea house is housed in a larger complex with bigger parking space. Both centers feature a product shop and cafe with decks that overlook impressive views of the valley.

Local Lunch
The largest number of restaurants are found at Tanah Rata and Brinchang townships, though you can get good food almost anywhere. Feel free to enjoy Indian or Chinese cuisine for a nice lunch without having to sacrifice the local comfort.
