The island of Langkawi is located in the Andaman Sea on the west coast of Malaysia. The archipelago is made up of a hundred islands, of which only four are inhabited. We offer navigation to hidden places in this gem which is Kedah.

Pulau Langkawi is an exceptional geological site that classified UNESCO as a “Geopark” and is one of the oldest submerged lands of South East Asia.

Certain rock formations date from over 550 million years and its pristine beaches are nestled under the cliffs, Langkawi will offer you unforgettable landscapes.

More than half of the area is covered by lush tropical forest, home to unique fauna and flora including 400 different tree species. The possibilities for hiking in Langkawi are nearly unlimited, and there are even a jungle walks at night! Without a doubt, Langkawi is definitely one of the most stunning places to visit in Malaysia.

Situated at the famous Kilim River in Eastern Langkawi Island, Kilim is an outstanding land-form with a dramatical landscape surrounding the hidden lagoon of Geo-Forest Park. Here the largest mangroves area in this region is located. Kayaking through the channel and waterways is an exciting experience to see the virgin mangrove jungles. One can also see a Cave full of bats, local fishermen area, pure mangroves, and abandon islander villages.

Kilim Karst Geoforest Park Langkawi, spanning almost 100 square kilometers, is noteworthy for mangrove swamps, pristine beaches, and vertical karstic hills jutting out towards the Andaman Sea. Set along the northeast tip of Langkawi Island, the park is accessible within a five-minute drive from Tanjung Rhu Beach.

The Kilim Geoforest Park is one of three Geoforests on Pulau Langkawi, which itself was designated a Geopark by UNESCO in 2007. The kilim is reportedly the most successful eco-tourism destination on Langkawi and features a wide variety of natural features including coastal karst, caves, pristine mangrove forests, flora, and fauna, fossils, and the oldest carbonate rock in the region; formed 490-370 million years ago.

There’s a good variety of wildlife found in Kilim Karst Geoforest Park Langkawi, ranging from otters and monitor lizards to macaques and tree crabs hiding amongst the thick mangroves. During the migratory seasons (September to March), you can spot birdlife of varying species, including kingfishers, white-bellied fish eagles, and kite eagles.

Scattered across Kilim Karst Geoforest Park Langkawi are limestone formations that are over 500 million years old, with unique names such as Temple of Borobodur, the Elephant Stone, and the Hanging Gardens. There are also numerous caves that are filled with fossils as well as gigantic stalagmite and stalactites, namely Crocodile Cave, Cave of Legends, and Bat Cave.

The best way to explore this protected landscape is via riverboat cruise along the Kilim River. Aside from a leisurely experience with an experienced nature guide, visitors are also chartered to the limestone caves and a floating fish farm where they can hand-feed stingrays and archer fishes.
