Kuala Lumpur Bird Park, regarded to be the largest walk-in free-flight aviary in the world, KL Bird Park spreads out over 20.9 acres of sprawling, verdant valley terrain within the scenic Kuala Lumpur Lake Gardens. Divided into four zones, it’s home to more than 3,000 birds from 200 species, both local and foreign. It’s a good way to soak up some nature without actually having to be in the wild.

The zones in Kuala Lumpur Bird Park are such as:

Zone 1

The Free-Flight Walk-In Aviary
Experience the ambience of lush green tropical rainforest once you step into our free-flight walk-in aviary. Be amazed by the courtship display of the Indian Blue Peacock with its magnificent, colourful, 5-feet train. Catch a glimpse of the Crowned pigeon, the largest pigeon species in the world. See how Yellow-billed Storks gather fallen twigs to build nests in their nesting colonies, and last but not least, doves, egrets and ibises feeding joyfully at the various feeding points.

Love Aviary
Oh, of all the featherly romance. Be greeted by the cheeky Indian Ring-necked Parakeets. Witness the strong bond between the Lovebirds where they spend sitting beside one another all day. Take out your camera and snap pictures of the greatly loveable small parrots, colorful Budgerigars, Sun Conures and Cockatiels.

Brahminy Land
Be awed by the mighty presence of the Brahminy Kites eagle in Brahminy Land, one of the popular local bird of prey species in Malaysia. These magnificent birds give out sorrowful, mewing calls especially during late evenings.

Flamingo Pond
Not a sight to be missed. Catch a glimpse of the Greater and Lesser Flamingos gracefully sun-bathing in a beautifully landscaped pond complete with a scenic man-made waterfall. Marvel at their ability to stand on one leg. Meanwhile, you can also observe the majestic pelicans, another splendid yet curious bird species with its enormous bill and awkward heavy walk.

Zone 2

The Free-Flight Walk-In Aviary
The area of this park is connected to Zone 1 via bridges and is home to several elusive birds such as the Nicobar pigeon, Baya weaver and Scarlet ibis. Marvel at the largest bird in the world; the Ostrich which has eyes that are larger than their brain. This area is also a favourite spot for some of the more matured Peafowls.

Zone 3

Hornbill Park
This zone depicts Malaysia’s true tropical rainforest, with its towering evergreen trees, some soaring up to the height of a 10-storey building. Home to the regal Rhinoceros Hornbill, one of the largest hornbill species in the world, this bird forms a beautiful contrast to its surrounding and definitely a remarkable sight to be relished. Hornbill Park is also where you can find the Hornbill Gift Shop, and a three-storey Hornbill Restaurant and Cafe, with a protruding open-air verandah overlooking the park; just the perfect way to enjoy your meal.
